Despise Not Small Beginnings….
****originally published August 2020. It’s still very relevant however and now more than ever, You need to know you can!
Zechariah 4:10 New International Version
10 “Who dares despise the day of small things, since the seven eyes of the Lord that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone[a] in the hand of Zerubbabel?”
For some this may seem like, ‘no big deal’ but for me, each and every time one of my books ends up in this publication, I rejoice like its the first time. Why? Because this is just the beginning. I know what the Divine Creator has instilled in me, as well as the things I’ve asked for. Soon, seeing my books gracing newspapers, magazines, billboards, will be common place.
I say that to say, I want all of us to take that approach to our dreams and visions. What is it that you seek to do? What’s stopping you? Everyone has a starting point, whether its a Popsicle stick model, a half paragraph scribbled on a cocktail napkin, an idea put into your phones voice recorder, its that time and space where you say, “this is what I want to do, and here is how I’m going to achieve it.”
Someone is reading this saying but I don’t have a talent, a gift. That’s so not true, 1 Corinthians 12:4, Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; Yes, not everyone is going to be a business owner. How would that work? We need workers, but that doesn’t mean your gift can’t be to enhance that business while enriching yourself. Don’t let anyone dissuade you from your dream. Surround yourself with like-minded people who will encourage you, lift you up, pray with/for you, and who will keep it 100% real with you.
So, celebrate with me this milestone. My cover has finally made it onto the spotlight page and I couldn’t be more proud, not only for me, but for the other authors sharing the spotlight with me. If I can ever be of help, service, encouragement, to any of you, reach out! I will do what I can, and what Spirit leads.

LET’S BREATHE (May 2021)
Hey and Welcome to Bad(die) Thoughts! Just an FYI, my ramblings aren’t always about writing, so don’t be shocked when we off center on our journey together.
Life can be super chaotic huh? That’s an understatement considering the complete upheaval we’ve all lived through since March 2020. Normal? Tuh, what’s that? We’ve been on lock down, shut down, restrictions for so long, its hard sometimes to imagine how things used to be. Watching business struggle or close down. People being laid off from jobs. It’s been a real eye opener, a deep reality check of what we take for granted on a daily basis. It really does warp your perception of time to a degree. I’ve been feeling like one of the Elders you see sitting on the porch (it’s a Southern thing) telling you stories of ‘back in the day’, when sadly it’s only been a year. Lol. We’re getting better though. Vaccine is here. 100 million and counting are getting inoculated. People (mostly) were diligent about social distancing’s, disinfecting, washing their hands. Might be the cleanest some of these places have been since they opened LOL. So I have hope that we’ll get there. We’ll be majority protected and life will assume its new normal, moving right on along.
For some this has been a year of continual darkness. Cut off from social interactions, family, friends, it’s been really hard. I’m an advocate of therapy and self-care. In the electronic age it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that we all need actual human contact at some point. Every day seeing the numbers increase for lives lost due to COVID and COVID related diagnosis certainly has taken a toll. Loss in general takes a toll. Kids dying of unnatural causes, gun violence, abuse, neglect. Domestic violence so easily passed off as ‘just the way it is’ as women/men’s lives are snuffed out. The pandemic has also exposed more of the ugliness that is humanity than some would like to admit. Spotlights are glaring on the evil that darkness once hid. Marriages are dissolving. Friendships ending. Suicides are on the rise. Depression has been having a field day. It can be fully and totally disheartening, even to point of wanting to give up. It’s at this point though where it becomes imperative to have a lifeline or three. Friends, family, clergy (if you’re a believer), to speak into your life. To connect with you and let you know “I’m here and You matter.” Pick up the phone and dial that suicide prevention hotline, (800-273-8255) just talk to someone. The thing about darkness, is that it doesn’t last forever. Morning actually does come. Trust that I’ve been in darkness too, and it definitely feels like the shit will never be over. It does end though. You just have to hold on and have you a hold on buddy. However that looks for you, let it be so. Don’t be pressed about what society or anyone else thinks. It has to work for YOU.
